Why Companies House ID verification is now mandatory
All UK company directors and Persons with Significant Control
(PSCs) are now legally required to verify their identity with
Companies House. This is not optional. It is designed to prevent
fraud and protect legitimate businesses.
Once verified, you receive a unique Companies House personal code.
From 18 November 2025, this code must be included in every
confirmation statement filing. Without it, your filings will be
rejected and your company falls out of compliance immediately.

Who needs to verify their identity?

What is an authorised corporate service provider (ACSP)?
An ACSP is registered with Companies House and a UK anti-money
laundering supervisory body. ACSPs can verify identity on your
behalf. Mint Formations is a registered ACSP, which means we are
legally qualified to complete your verification.
Can I cancel the service and get a refund if I am unable to provide all the documents you require?
Yes, you can cancel the service at any time. However, under our refund policy, you are only eligible for a refund if the order is cancelled within 14 days of the order date.
If you cancel within 14 days but after we have sent you the verification link, we are happy to refund your payment bar a processing charge of £4.99+VAT per officer.
How much does it cost?

navigating government systems, potentially visiting a post office,
and handling complex security questions. Mint charges £19 + VAT
per person to handle the entire process as your authorised agent,
saving you time and ensuring compliance.
Can I verify if I live outside the UK?
Yes. You can use an ACSP like Mint Formations to verify your
identity from any country. We handle international directors
regularly and can process your verification remotely.
Is my personal data secure?
Yes. We use encrypted portals for document uploads and comply with
UK GDPR. As a registered ACSP, we follow strict data protection
and anti-money laundering standards. Your documents are handled
securely and deleted after verification is complete.
What documents do I need?
You'll need documents from Companies House's approved list along with a clear selfie photograph. The approved documents are:
- Valid passport (preferably) or UK driving license (photo ID)
- Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, UK council tax bill)
- Additional documents may be required for AML compliance

What is a Companies House personal code?
Your personal code is a unique identifier issued after successful
identity verification. You must include it in your confirmation
statement filings from 18 November 2025. The code is personal to
you, not your company, and should only be shared with trusted
people who file on your behalf.
Do I need to verify again if I hold multiple company roles?
No. You only verify once and receive one personal code. You must
however provide that code separately for each company role you
hold, in confirmation statements or PSC notifications.
How long does it take?
With Mint Formations: Most verifications are completed within 48
hours of receiving your documents, though Companies House
processing times may vary.
DIY with GOV.UK One Login: Timing varies and depends on which
method you are assigned - security questions, multiple document
uploads, or Post Office visits. The system requires precise
document formats, may reject submissions for minor errors, and
often requires multiple attempts before successful verification.
What if my confirmation statement is due before I verify?
Verify as soon as possible. From 18 November 2025, Companies House
will reject confirmation statements that do not include personal
codes for all directors. Late filing penalties will apply if you
miss your deadline.
Can someone else file my confirmation statement after I verify?
Yes. If your accountant, company secretary, or Mint files your
confirmation statement, you must share your personal code with
them. Only share it with trusted people - treat it like your HMRC
Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR).
